The wooden panels used for this artwork are made from carefully selected wood offcuts and surplus materials from the manufacturing process of grand pianos by a world-renowned piano manufacturer.

Grand pianos are made using carefully selected, high-quality woods sourced from around the world and naturally dried and seasoned over a long period of time.

Rather than allowing these precious wood materials left over from the manufacturing process to go to waste, we give them a new purpose as part of a unique work of art.

The Traditional Japanese Art of Echizen Chinkin

Chinkin is a traditional Japanese lacquerware technique in which delicate lines and patterns are carved into a lacquered surface using a specialized carving tool, and gold or other metallic powders are then applied into the carved grooves.

Rather than simply printing or transferring the photograph onto the surface, the artisan carefully studies the photograph and hand-carves each individual line to capture the distinctive character of your pet.

The direction of the fur, the shape of the nose and mouth, and the expression of the eyes are all carefully considered.
